The Khmelnytskyi Regional Museum of Local Lore (Kraimuz) is a hub of scientific, cultural, and educational activities. It holds regional significance, offering a comprehensive insight into the history and culture of the Podillia region, both past and present. Now, this rich resource is accessible in a user-friendly web format.

The story of our cooperation

Our cooperation began with an interest of the Client in a similar case with the lasting Echoes "ХОХМ: Art Museum". The online space always opens up our Clients from a different perspective, especially for such classic places as museums. Therefore, the website for the Museum of Local History became a bridge between the modern digital society and the physical museum.

Project challenges
1
Interactive idea: "Explore the region with us. Choose your preferred format and discover what's happening at the museum right now."
2
Development of a unique design, logo, and additional identity, using symbols specific to the Podillya region.
3
Create a modern website that provides a complete overview of collections and exhibitions, as well as information about them.
4
This project aims to bridge the gap between modern digital society and the physical location of the museum.

Naming

The development of the modern name "Kraimuz" began with close communication between the designers from “Homin” and the museum team, led by director Olena Mykolaivna Brytska. After visiting the museum, the naming became obvious: a museum is a temple (ukr: krai) where muses reside. Hence, "Kraimuz."

Logo development

After conducting research, our designer incorporated into the museum logo some of the oldest symbols of our ancestors. The central figure became a blue bird, which was traditionally depicted on ornaments. This is characteristic of the Podillya region.

Colour scheme and typography

The project font features curved serifs, emphasizing the museum's connection to authentic Ukrainian culture.

The colour palette includes three colours. Blue signifies stability and the preservation of traditions. Yellow symbolizes wisdom and goal achievement, while white represents the synthesis of all colours, making it the ideal colour, known as the "colour of dreams."

An important task was introducing an interactive exhibit overview since not all items can be physically displayed within the museum building.

What about the tech stack?

  • We chose CMS WordPress for easy handling of large amounts of content.

  • Implemented dynamic viewing of exhibits + slider.

  • Enabled access to the digitized museum collection + convenient search on the website.

What about the tech stack?

  • Multilingual website: available in Ukrainian and English, allowing us to reach tourists and city guests effectively.

  • Established a donation program called "Support the Museum," offering users the chance to financially support the museum's development or contribute to expanding its collection.

  • Implemented a user-friendly feedback form for inquiries, messages, pre-ordering tours, quests, and master classes.

What does this mean for people?

We found the connection between the modern digital society and the physical location of the museum, despite the challenges faced by cultural, educational, and scientific institutions. "Kraimuz" is moving towards digital progress and growth with a modern and interactive website by "Homin" team.
